A FREE ! converter from PNG, ICO .. to BMP (Alpha-Channel)
Posted: Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:52 PM
Hello,

after long searching and testing in the internet,
i found a tool ( freeware ) to convert any PNG, ICO, GIF ...
to BMP ( keeping the Alpha-Channel ).
I don't want to use Photoshop ( to much work )

DEFINE BITMAP oNewBrush1 FILENAME "test.bmp"
ABPaint( hDC, 0, -10, oNewBrush1:hBitmap, 255 ) // 0-255 transparency level

I tested many Applications.
After converting from PNG to BMP, there was no Alpha-Channel.

Now i found a working one with export PNG to Transparent BMP :
http://icofx.ro/

Regards
Uwe :-)

The Gimp, wich is free and Open Source, can be used to transform PNG to 32 bits BMPs. Just load the PNG and use 'Save As' .. 32 bit bmp.

Carlos.

Thank you very much for the information,

I heard about GIMP, but didn't test it.
I opened a ICO and PNG- file and saved them as
BMP with Alpha-Channel with a good quality.
It is a good solution, to export quickly ICO and PNG to BMP.
