Office 2010 beta Home
Posted: Thu Apr 01, 2010 11:54 AM
I installed on a clean PC WINDOWS 7 and Office 2010 home beta.

Now the code < oWord := CREATEOBJECT( "Word.Application" ) > errors out.

I can’t fine a winword.exe. If I click on the windows menu on properties I get the following path:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Word 2010 (Beta) 2014006204070000"

Best regards,
Otto

“Click-to-Run is a new mechanism for delivering rich client software over the internet, and will be used to greatly improve the Office trial-delivery experience via our Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) infrastructure. Click-to-Run utilizes core Microsoft streaming and virtualization technology, as well as new Office innovation, to significantly reduce the time required for users to download Office 2010. At this time, only Office Home and Student 2010 and Office Home and Business 2010 will be available via Click-to-Run and we are starting the testing of this delivery mechanism as part of the Office 2010 technical preview program.”

Hello Antonio,

I posted this because I had no idea why the code was broken.
If you install Office 2010 professional beta the installation is as usual and the code is working.

Best regards,
Otto

With Office 2010®, Microsoft® is introducing a new delivery mechanism called Click-to-Run. This technology enables users to only download the parts of Office 2010 they need. It’s an implementation of Microsoft App-V™ from the cloud.
If you’re interested in delivering your applications as virtual App-V packages like Office 2010, try InstallShield 2010. When you build an MSI with InstallShield 2010, it can simultaneously build an App-V package. All the work is done for you, so you don’t have to learn a new technology.

Best regards,
Otto
