Dear Enrico,
No, "Windows Phone 7" uses the same development tools as the XBox360 !!! (XNA and SilverLight)
Microsoft has done another "clever" strategy breaking backwards compatibility...
Thank you, Antonio. So, what is the latest Windows flavour compatible with FWPPC? I have to set the requirements needed for a FWPPC program.
EMG
Enrico,
Windows Mobile 6.5, as far as I know it ![]()
Ok, thank you.
EMG
Thank you for the info.

Antonio,
so, the fwppc project is finished ?
We cannot use it on wce7 but only with until wm 6.5 or you think to change fwppc for wce7 ?
Antonio,
I realise that this is a very difficult question for you, but Silvio asks a question that must be answered. We cannot sit around waiting until a miracle happens in Spain. Our clients want answers.
Here in Australia, there are no Windows Mobile 6.5 platforms being sold. Only Windows Phone 7, which you said is not compatible with FWPPC, and Android units. The HTC HD2 with WM 6.5 is available only as used items on eBay.
What must we do?
To others (Otto, Jeff, Silvio, Daniel, Enrico, everyone ), what FWPPC-friendly PDAs or phones are available in your part of the world now? How are you planning for the future needs of your customers?
Sincerely,
Ross

Ross,
Microsoft has broken backwards compatibility with Windows Mobile 7. The way to develop apps now is totally different and we can not use Harbour (by now), neither FWPPC.
Right now, and the same applies to the iPhone/iPad and the Android, if you want to develop for those platforms you have to learn and use the tools that Apple, Google and Microsoft provide. No quick and easy solutions ![]()
UPDATE UPDATE
I have just managed to buy a HTC HD2 phone with Windows Mobile 6.5 on it. The competition on eBay was fierce, but I won!
Now, ... where do I get a suitable emulator please?
Cheers,
Ross
Enrico and Antonio,
Thank you both for your very clear answers.
My client wants to deploy 20 PDAs or phones in the next 3 months with my software for "testing and tagging" electrical appliances. I am now not looking forward to his reaction when he hears that this plan is "dead in the water" and we must start again on a different path with new software tools.
Regards,
Ross
Hello Ross,
we use WF 35 from http://www.widefly.com.
Now they have also a new one: WF 43.
If you don’t need phone these are very good devices.
They can be locked to a certain SSID and WLAN is always on.
Best regards,
Otto
Many thanks Otto,
Those units look very attractive. I will contact the Australian agent today to learn how much this "attractiveness" is going to cost us ![]()
Are you using a WM 6.5 emulator? Where did you obtain it?
Best wishes from Down Under.
Ross
Hello Ross,
I still use the 5.o emulator.
I don’t know what kind of software you have.
I have a software for restaurants. We changed our system from FWPPC to FW and connect via RemoteDesktop.
I recompiled the PPC software with FW and now the software is installed on a WINDOWS Server or on a windows PC where we install VMware.
In our case this is a good solution.
Best regards,
Otto
