File Locking

Hi All

We recently upgraded a clients server from Debian to Ubuntu running Samba - since the
upgrade we have found an old DOS clipper app and a 32 bit xharbour windows application slows down to
a crawl on all workstations ( most xp and a couple win 7) - when I run " service smbd restart"
this puts things back to normal. Using DBF/FPT/CDX.

Has anyone got any ideas of what settings to change in Ubuntu Samba conf or anything else that
may cause this issue.

Cheers

Colin

Colin,

No idea about what may be the problem. Surely it is a known issue for Ubuntu and Samba users. Have you googled for it ?

Try also to ask about it on the Harbour dev group:

http://groups.google.es/group/harbour-devel

regards, saludos

Anotonio

I have spent hours googling - it appears the issue is not only with Ubuntu but
other distro's.

Regards

Colin
