FWH Windows application on an iMac
Posted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 07:53 AM

Hello,

A customer of mine bought an iMac on which a Windows 7 platform is available.

I try to start my FWH Windows application but immediately I got an error that the application doesn't work (gpf).

What might be the problem? Which solution can be offered?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Regards,

Michel,

Is he running Windows on "Parallels" (virtualization software) or natively using "BootCamp" (he chooses to boot in Windows or in Mac) ?

Could you build FWH\samples\tutor02.prg and run it on it ?

Are you using any ActiveX or external DLLs ?

regards, saludos

Antonio,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I didn't see the iMac myself (I logged in) but I think it runs Windows on "Parallels".

I will try to run tutor02.prg on Monday (I have to go to Holland right now for the rest of the day).

The only external dll's I use are MYBWCC32.DLL and CTL3D.DLL.

Thanks a lot.

Michel,

I do all my work on a iMac with Windows 7 (well actually I am using Windows 8 ) so I can asure it works really fine :-)

But I don't use Parallels, I run Windows natively on it, so when the Mac starts I select the OS to use.

Once you test tutor02.exe on it then we may know if there is something specific with your app. Also I can install Parallels here and test it too.

One way or another, we will find whats going on and solve it :-)

regards, saludos

Manuel,

Igual es algo relacionado con Parallels, aunque me extraña mucho...

Just FYI -

I don't think it has anything to do with Parallels. I do all my FW development exclusively on a iMac with Windows 7 as a virtual machine and Windows xp as another VM, both under Parallels. All my .exes are created under the Windows 7 VM and I use the xp VM for testing the apps. Never had a single problem. When I go on the road I use the same configuration on a Mac Book Pro -absolutely no problems either. Trust me it works.
