Spirin Sergey is dead?
Posted: Sat Jun 30, 2012 09:39 PM

Hi.

I may have misread the post in a foreign language to me. I think I just read on an ng that Sergey Spirin, the creator of FastReports Frax/Frh for harbour, has died several weeks ago. Does anybody here has information in that regard?

Thank you,

Reinaldo.

I don't think so. Someone just simply use the word 'die' to state that there has been no contact nor reply from Sergey. It has happened before. Sometimes he's on vacation sometimes he works on other projects because he can't simply rely on FRAX income alone.

Alex;

I'm truly sorry. Can you translate for us?

Is there an alternative for Frax/frh users?

Thank you,

Reinaldo.

Hi Alex,
If it involves purchasing FRH, his wife might be able to handle it but I notice so far there has been no technical person to take over his task of providing support and maintenance of FRH as can be seen at http://groups.google.com/group/fastrepo ... our/topics where a lot of support questions that requires his technical expertise left unanswered.

Hi Reinaldo,
There is a version of Fastreport that supports ActiveX/COM but I don't know of anyone using [x]Harbour that uses that version. The strength of FRH that I really like is everything is included in just 1 dll and the ability to pass variables between FRH and [x]Harbour plus it can call our function in [x]Harbour. Saved me a lot of time not having to master Pascal Script.

Here's hoping FRH will continue to live on :)

Is there some way to obtain the source from Sergey? Maybe this a project we can adopt.

From the Russian forum (using google translator)

Thank you all for your kind words addressed to Sergei. It really was a remarkable man! All the source code on his computer is. Ready to cooperate with anyone who is ready to help investigate. Thanks, Spirin Elena.Pishite. spirina@paritetsoft.ru

Sergey way looking for a delphi programmers some time ago, but we don't know if there is another developer working in FR. Elena's post open the opportunity to continue with FR development, but will be necessary a delphi expert

Actually I don't use FR but for far it is indispensable for a FW professional applications, I don't know a replace for it, easy, powerful, simple (1 dll)...

saludos

Marcelo
