OT: Opinions on Microsoft Event

I know this is off topic ... sort of ... but wondering what people think.

Yesterday Microsoft held a special event to announce their plans for the next release of Windows 10, and two new Surface devices ( a more powerful notebook, and a desktop all in one ). Windows 10 is called the Creative update because it focuses on 3D, games, and graphics. The new devices are designed for designers and gamers.

If you have reviewed the presentation, do you feel there is anything that Microsoft announced yesterday that will appeal to you as a developer? My question focuses on the ability to market FW solutions as a result. Will any of these new features / direction help you provide better solutions for your clients ?

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, do any of you plan to buy the new Surface Book i7 ( $ 2,500 US ), or the new Surface Studio ( from $ 3,000 to $ 4,500 US )?

Tim

There were two main focuses. The first was Windows 10. It's called the Creative Update and focuses on imagination. Their demographic for the new features was survey results of people aged 12 to 24. This means 3D, gaming enhancements ( ie. broadcasting your game play ), and stuff like that. The other focus was on the new Surface Studio ( desktop ) and Surface Book i7. Both are aimed for the gaming and artistic community.

There was nothing about stabilizing, or fixing any of the issues in Win 10. There was nothing about expanding support for business applications ( ie. more affordable cloud options, etc ). After the 2 hours, I felt that the new direction better fit a toy store than what we do.

I'm just curious if I'm missing some major point that FW developers will benefit from having in this new direction.
