Writing to INI files

I find in a few of my programs (most of them) that eventually my INI files get fragmented. There may be several blank lines between the lines with data. Anybody have this experience?

Could it be that there are entries with a long string with spaces at the end somewhere and the viewer is set to wrap displayed text?
