Did you already implemented an option to create groups of files like MED editor ?

Project management
A MED Project is a great way of organizing your work into a nice neat little package. This package includes a working directory, a set of commands, which source files you want as part of the project, and a few other things. Once you supply MED with this information, you can do compiles/makes from within MED and have your error messages automatically processed. You can also build a tag file for all the project's source files so that you may navigate your source code quickly and easily. A few other dialogs take advantage of your project source files such as the "Find in files" and "Section Browser" dialog boxes.
Files are grouped in logical containers, the file groups. Files belonging to the same group need not necessarily to be located in the same directory on the file system. The groups are displayed in the "Project tree" window of the Working area and can be passed as a single parameter to the project commands. A project can contain an unlimited number of file groups.

• Automatic creation of File groups or Projects from a directory tree
• 13 commands per Project
• Automatic tag file management
