Most of us have fallen in love with the fact that AI can write code for us. Some have gone further and let it build things using combinations of languages we had never even heard of — extending an app to do a few things we needed, but with code a hundred times longer than what we would have written by hand, and logic we sometimes cannot follow ourselves.
It is not a question of whether the trap gets set. It is a question of when.
By most accounts, the AI companies are still losing money on the services they provide. Once you are hooked, you will not have much choice but to pay whatever they ask. I have already seen it in the pricing: business and API rates run several times what a personal account costs, and I do not expect that gap to stay where it is.
So think it through for yourself. And do not forget the language that has kept you productive for all these years, and that will not change under your feet — Harbour/FiveWin. That stays put.
Thanks to Antonio Linares for both of them.
