hi, i would like know about report generator used by fwh users? whats the best? thanks

There are at least 3 options to go

1) EasyReport (www.reportdesigner.info) Written in FiveWin, includes the visual designer along with a LIB that let you print your reports designed in ER.

2) The most common used (I think) Crystal Reports, which is the "standard" for visual report designers under Windows, the most of the programming languages use it. FiveWin provides two ways to use Crystal, one usign a TCRPE class and other via ActiveX.

3) You can also use List&Label the european equivalent of Crystal Reports, you can handle from FiveWin using ActiveX also (http://en.combit.net/reporting_tool/page1122.aspx)

4) Any developers work using RPV with FWH too

I still use R&R. I had a lot of reports in Clipper application that I can still use with xHarbour.

IDEA - why we create a new report designer ( !open source !) for all fw community?

Good idea Silvio. Will be a pleasure to contribute in the developing of a report designer open source.

I think it’s a waste of time if there is such a good report generator as EasyReport.
Also source is included. You can do all what you want with ER.

The best what we could do is to use ER extensively so that the development of this great tool continues.

Please don’t split up the FW community with reinventing the wheel.

What’s missing is a IDE for FW. Maybe you can work on that.

I found very difficult to use ER....
I try to found something to simply....
I made something but it not is terminated also
I made also a Preview as EP ( 4/6/8/10/20 pages show and other things)
if you want I can see to you a picture of my work....

Hello areang,
please don’t waste your time. EasyReport is there. You can do all what you want with EasyReport.
I think there is a free license for private use with each FW version. So you can test it.
EasyReport is a very professional tool. Skilled end-users are able to change the reports with the vrd.exe by themselves.
What with other designers is nearly impossible.

If you have the knowledge and extra time please work on an IDE for Fivewin. This is really missing.

it' free but.....

you cannot insert it on a your EXE you must call vrd.exe to designer a page...

Instead I working to create something ( source class) to insert on own program!!!

also Easy preview you must call epreview.exe instead my class is source and you can compile with own program together ...

and to create a page ( factura, report ) you must have many MB and it is very difficult

I f you download from Infoser a program demo (powergest) you can see on it a designer simply ..... I working to create it

I agree with Silvio. We have good payed solutions but I think have space to "payed solutions" and "free solutions". Who want pay for products are free to choose. But who want free open source solutions are free to develop one...
